2012 Melbourne Summer royal
The stud was represented by 5 horses down at the Summer royal
Cherishwood Dream On continued his winning ways with 1st RPSB overheight gelding 3 years and under and RESERVE CHAMPION LED RPSBS OVERHEIGHT YOUNGSTOCK, as well as 4th open breeds gelding 2 + 3 year old and 6th Arabian Riding Pony gelding 2 + 3 year old.

Cherishwood Royal Marchioness (pictured below) was awarded 2nd RP filly 2 yo 12hh and under and 6th ARP filly 2 + 3 years, she had a growth spurt prior to the royal and was a little bum high but both judges were very impressed with her.

Her half sister Cherishwood Princess Royal owned by Rachel Giordimaina was 6th in the RP mare 12.2-13hh and 3rd in the ARP mare under 13hh.
Cherishwood Design had a fantastic show under saddle winning her part welsh ridden and 2nd in the RP13.2-14hh and placing 6th in her Arabian Riding Pony mare over 13hh class, she also made the top ten in her 13.2-14hh saddle horse championship class.
Cherishwood City Lights who is owned by Mitch Fox and Nicole Touzel had a great first royal winnng the best presented Riding Pony and placing in her APSB RP, Part Welsh and Riding Pony classes

The first show of the new year was VAS Ltd saddle horse championships where we took Cherishwood Design down for only her second HOTY event (the other being Barastoc Newcomers), We were thrilled when she was called in 2nd in her 13.2-14hh rising star class and made it through to the finial 10.

We took Cherishwood Design to the last ag for 2011 that being Neerim Ag on the 11/12 where she won her open saddle pony 13.2-14hh in the first ring.
The 2011 Victorian Riding Pony Pagaent held on the 18/12 was for the youngstock of the show team, Cherishwood Dream On and Cherishwood Royal Marchioness represented the stud and what a great day we had . Cherishwood Dream On (pictured below) at his first ever show was 1st d RPSBS show hack gelding 3yo and under + champion led RPSBS show hack / show hunter youngstock. Cherishwood Royal Marchioness won her 2yo filly ne 12hh and 1st in the home produced 2yo filly ne 12.3hh. We recieved some lovely comments about both youngstock and look forward to their next show which will be Melbourne Summer Royal Show.
Cherishwood Princess Royal attended the 2011 Victorian All Welsh Show with Rachel Giordimaina where she was awarded reserve champion led senior part welsh 12.2-13.2hh

Cherishwood Design attended Dandenong Ag on the 13/11 winning the senior led riding pony 13.2-14.2hh and the ridden show pony 13.2-14.2 plus reserve ridden show pony in the riding qualifying pony ring and champion large saddle pony in the open ring.
Cherishwood Princess Royal (pictured below) also attended Dandenong and was sashed reserve champion led arabian riding pony, and this weekend at Clunes Ag was awarded champion senior riding pony led and SUPREME RIDING PONY, Champion Arabian riding pony and SUPREME ARABIAN DERIVATIVE, huge congratulations to Rachel Giordimaina who is showing roxi on our behalf
Sales news
Cherishwood Dreaming (Sharinga Nightspell * Sanlirra Devotion) has been sold to a wonderful home here in Vic and heads off to the breakers next weekend, we wish his new owners the very best of luck with him and cant wait to see him in the ring next year as a newcomer

Arinlea Royal Obsession and Sanlira Devotion both have returned positive pregnancy tests and have returned home from Salisbury Riding Ponies, Devotion is in foal to Salisbury Tribute (Weston Mirage) and Royal Obsession is in foal Sanlirra Supernatural . We thank Di and Shane for allowing us to use their beautiful stallions

On the showing front
Cherishwood Design who hasn't been shown since her newcomer finial at barastoc HOTY in 2009 ,due to my pregnancy, returned to the ring at Maffra Ag Show 22/10/11 . She also attended Sale Ag 29/10/11 show to be awarded champion large saddle pony. Pictured below left
Our beautiful 2 to filly Cherishwood Royal Marchioness (pictured above right photo credit Lisa O'neil) attended her first show the APSB welsh promotional group youngstock show on the 1st of November, She did the stud proud being awarded the following
Champion riding pony filly, champion arabian derivative filly, and champion APSB RP filly in both rings
Cherishwood Princess Royal is being shown for us this season by Rachel Giordimaina, at her second show for the season, she was awarded GRAND CHAMPION PART WELSH EXHBIT at Colac Ag Show on the 5/11/11
On the breeding side
Balena Regal Sunny surprised us going 4 weeks early and producing a upstanding filly by Lyrics (AI) (Strinesdale Matador (UK) * Silkwood Spring Song) on the 15th October. We have named this filly subject to approval by the societies Cherishwood Sound of Music (pictured below at 3 days old) and she should mature small galloway and will be retained by the stud

Congratulations to Dunelm Sculpture and Rachel Giordimaina on their recent success at the APSB Action day in August, winning one dressage test and placing 3rd and 5th in the other two. Sculpture is out of our lovely old broodmare Avonlea Sketch (see broodmare page). We have retained two 3/4 sisters to Sculpture Cherishwood Design (see below for results) and 3 yo Cherishwood Illustrate who will be set for a pony dressage career once broken in.
With the 2011/2012 season only around the corner, a team of 3 ponies will shown by the stud this season. Our beautiful brown mare Cherishwood Design will return back to the show ring under saddle after having the pervious season off due to my maternity leave. Also joining the team will be the tiny 2 year old filly Cherishwood Royal Marchioness, and the 2 year old galloway gelding, Cherishwood Dream On who will be shown in hand. All 3 ponies have began their show prep and after missing last season I am very excited about getting back in the ring.
On the sale front Cherishwood City lights (Sire: Dainhill Octave Dam: Sanlirra Country Flirt) has found a new home in Victoria and will be broken in over the spring and set for newcomers 2012/2013. We are were also pleased to hear from Cherishwood Ralph Lauren new owners about how thrilled they are with Elmo and we look forward to the regular updates.

Well 7 weeks have past since the last update and this has been the first chance I have had to do an update. We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our second son, Andrew (Drew) William Parkes, born on the 31/1/11 at Leongatha Memorial Hospital at 2.52pm weighing in a 6 pound 14 oz or 3.12kg and 51 cms in length. All is going well and James loves being a big brother

Balena Regal Sunny (Urubula Regal Promise) has tested positive in foal to Lyrics A.I (Strinesdale Matador (UK) * Silkwood Spring Song) and we are awaiting the pregnancy test with Sanlirra Devotion who also has been put in foal to Lyrics (A.I) . We are very excited with this cross with both mares and are expecting the resulting foals to be small galloways with big movement and will be destined for pony dressage.
Although we did not attend the 2011 Melbourne Summer Royal due to my pregnancy, the stud was represented by Cherishwood Dejavue owned by Rachel Giordimaina, Dylan placed 4th in the led Part welsh over 14hh and also 4th in the led Show Hunter Gelding Galloway class. Congratulations to Rachel.
